Purchasing - Strategic Buyer - Beauty Industry

Our client, a rapidly growing beauty products company with a portfolio of brands sold in multiple channels of trade, is looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Strategic Buyer who can thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where multi-tasking is essential.

Their key accounts include major national retailers and media companies with lines for additional retailers in development.

Key Responsibilities • Source new components for multiple projects with short lead times. • Responsible for identifying suppliers for primary and secondary packaging materials, and procuring quotes for raw materials. • Manage existing supplier/manufacture relationships, and help identify new suppliers in support of the company’s continued growth. • Help support negotiation of contracts with suppliers. • Route and track component delivery to ensure materials are available according to timeline commitments.• Provide complete and accurate status reports as requested by management. • Responsible for prioritizing all projects while considering the overall needs of the company and ensuring optimum utilization of available resources for timely development and introduction. • Manage all packing lists, ROG and BOLs on specified projects. • Work with vendors to resolve chronic issues such as lead time and fill rate. • Analyze MRP on a daily basis to effectively manage inventory levels and replenishment buys. • Manage and track vendor timing and delivery on all goods and provide updates on timing for receipts and production paperwork.

Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience. • Minimum of 3 years  sourcing and procurement experience in packaged goods preferably in beauty or personal care.

Must be detail oriented and highly organized with strong analytical abilities. • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of management and customers. • Previous experience working with overseas vendors required. • Proven ability to work successfully in a deadline driven environment with a sense of urgency. •

Demonstrated ability to remain flexible while working on multiple projects simultaneously. • Exceptional negotiation and oral and written communication skills. • Strong computer skills, highly proficient in MS office with experience in Excel and Power Point. • Experience with Sage or other ERP systems. • Collaborative skills in resolving long and short positions in inventory • Experience with vendor management and relations • Must be detail oriented and a stickler for accuracy Details • Located in Van Nuys, CA • Salary depending on experience •
