Batcher Machine Operator - Putnam, CT

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the Batching/Inspection Machine. • Observe and adjust machine settings to achieve the smooth unwind and rewind of the moving web while observing the web for defects. • Repair of web defects in preparation for further use in subsequent manufacturing. • Splicing and/or sewing together of individual rolls of fabric to form larger rolls for manufacturing. • Quality inspection of rolled webs for defects and some partial packaging for shipment required. • Able to understand written instructions and to accept verbal direction from management. Some computer interfacing/querying is required. • Perform expeditious product changeovers and cleanups to maximize machine throughput. • Use material handling equipment, such as hoists, Industrial powered fork trucks, and roll transport trucks to maneuver and position large rolls of fabric, polyester film, scrims, paper, etc. Some minor lifting of machine parts weighing less than 75 lbs. will be needed during setup and breakdowns. • Organizational movement of manufactured rolls to maintain order in the storage racks. • Work environment is not air conditioned. • Need to keep working area clean by disposing of scrap, waste and debris as it accumulates. • Any other duties requested by production and administrative managers. • Some cross-training into other functions may occur in order to increase the employee’s value to the company.
