Job title: Assistant Director of Operations for Restaurant (Fast Casual and High End)
Reports to President & CEO

Location: Irvine, CA
Salary: $70K~$100K

Job Purpose
1. Responsible for attainment of budgeted sales profit, monitoring and directing the operations of restaurant.
Ensure high standards of quality, guest service and delivery are consistently exceeded to General Manager.   Establish and administer procedures pertaining to proper coordination of all operating activities relating to restaurant operations, food & beverage, events /meeting & incentives, with special emphasis on guest service, training of employees.   
2. Support Project Manager of designated new store development and manage opening process and schedule.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Financial
Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel / payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Control of pre-opening expenses in case of new store opening project

Food safety and planning
Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.   Ensure compliance with operational standards, company polices, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food presentation and service.
Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.

Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
Must be ServSafe certified.

Guest Service
Ensure positive guest service in all areas.   Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.

Operational responsibilities
Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets.
Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.   Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
Manage shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.

Personnel
Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
Direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.
Conduct orientation, explain the company policies, and oversee the training of new employees.
Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs.  

Community Involvement
Provide strong presence in local community and high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel.

Keeps Senior Management promptly and fully informed of all issues (ie. Problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary of suggests alternative courses of action.
Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Maintain favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conductive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency / effectiveness.
Performs other duties and responsibilities required or requested upon by CEO.

At all times provides a favorable image of the chain restaurants to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience 7 years preferred, of management in the restaurant industry.   Experiences for both upscale restaurant and fast casual restaurant.
Competence in HR planning, staffing and performance management, tough-mindedness, teambuilding, communication, drive & energy, open mindedness, organizational planning, quality of operations, accountability.
Ability to prepare, understands, and analyzes budget and P&L statements.
Must have worked with vendors for restaurant materials such as food, equipment etc.
Require demonstrated ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
Proven managerial and critical thinking skills required.
Capable of performing all hourly functions and meeting qualification standards for all hourly positions
Able to communicate clearly and respond promptly to needs of guests and employees, and consistently handle disciplinary actions.
Able to maintain a calm attitude in a fast paced, high intensity environment, also calmly and effectively handle any emergency.
Able to accurately balance safe and make deposits.   Must be able co communicate clearly to effectively purchase (order) products
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English 
Must be proficient in POS system and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
