A global top electronics company by the market capitalization is looking for a Product Planner (Car Electronics), who will plan to create new technology driven products and provides the product’s vision, roadmap, technical requirements, and drives its execution with the support of the global product planning team, including: gathering market requirements, working closely with development leads and partners, developing and maintaining key partnerships, and delivering products that are valuable, feasible and compelling to consumers. The Product Planner also supports sales activities by providing product information for negotiating with key customers and analyzing competitor products.
Your scope of contacts is with VP of Business Planning, Product Planning and Sales staff for the purpose of presentations, report and discussion daily as well as group subsidiaries including ones overseas, multiple business partners, and smartphone app developers.
Essential Job Duties (Not Official, please ask the interviewer for more details)
1 Creates roadmap and product plan ideas for automotive aftermarket products and works closely with global product planning team and engineering team in Japan to contribute to the global product strategy and product roadmap as well as provides technical input and influence into key feature definition throughout the process of product planning and development. 45%
2 Researches and analyzes automotive consumer electronics trends in North America. 15%
3 Prepares and presents current and future models features and specifications to Sales, Marketing and Training teams. 15%
4 Prepares competitive analysis and reporting. 10%
5 Conducts sales data analysis and reporting. 10%
6 Manages communication interface with US-based external parties such as Metra, Abalta, NPD, etc. 5%
AA degree from an accredited vocational, technical or junior college institution with focus in Marketing and Engineering.
(Experience) 3 to 6 years of working experience in car electronics aftermarket.
(Licenses) California class C driver’s license
(Travel) Occasional travel (less than 30% of the time) involved
(Skill) Software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
