Desktop Support Specialist - San Jose, CA

Job Description:

The primary job duties will involve IT Helpdesk tasks such as assisting employees with technical questions, software installations, documentation, computer deployments, peripheral maintenance, and general IT troubleshooting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Setup and deploy PC computers, transfer settings & data between computers, setup & configure printers and network devices

Troubleshoot and fix software and hardware issues on desktop systems, phones, printers, and network devices

Monitor and validate data backup processes and escalate issues in a timely fashion

Answer support calls, respond to emails and address employee walk-up questions

Resolve helpdesk tickets

Monitor and respond to IT system alerts

15% - Attend and participate in meetings/governance

10% - Assist in project work

75% - Service Desk Tickets

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Windows 10, Server 2016 operating systems and hardware

Microsoft Office 365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio)

Computer peripherals such as printers, scanners, wired and wireless network cards and media devices

Remote clients and stand-alone Access Points

Exchange/O365 user management

Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP Properties)

Windows Server Active Directory and Group Policy

 

Windows Hyper-V

Linux/Unix (Centos-Zabbix)

iPhone and MDM software

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Familiarity with Cloud solutions (Office365, Azure, Confluence, Jira, RingCentral, Meraki, Airwatch) 

Intermediate networking concepts (TCP/IP subnets, DNS, SMTP, Routing)

Zabbix Monitoring

RAID technologies

Server; Switch, Firewall setup and management

Desktop/Laptop imaging solutions (MDT-WDS)

 

The ideal candidate has experience working with Atlassian, Confluence, and Jira.
