Job Summary:

  • We currently have an opening in Sterling Heights, MI for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a Military Vehicle Program. 
Job Description:
  • Design and build of mechanical systems.
  • Support mechanical system concepts to production including architecture analysis, trade studies, requirements analysis, engineering reviews, design, test, and qualification.
  • Component selection, procurement, and involvement in hardware builds.
  • Create detailed mechanical specifications, interface requirements and test plans.
  • Review and develop hardware requirement documents and test plans.
  • Design, develop, and test mechanical components and subsystems in support of integration of thermal imaging systems, color and monochrome high resolution cameras, lasers, radar, direct view optics, and stabilized control systems.
  • Support the integration & testing of military sighting systems and electro-optical sensors on the various vehicle platforms.
  • Work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure the product meets its requirements.
  • Prepare and present written reports, status reports, and presentations as necessary.
  • Provide technical support and communication to the program office, customers, and other departments within the company.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
  • Ten plus years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with CAD tools, such as CREO/Pro-E.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing 
  • Experience with mechanical component design.
  • Support integration & testing of sights and/or sensors on the various vehicle platforms.
  • Basic optics laboratory skills including alignment and calibration procedures.
  • Familiarity with Military Standards and test requirements preferred.
  • Ability to use Engineering development tools.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Occasional overtime, and weekend hours may be required to complete certain tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong Multi-tasking skills.
Desired:
  • Experience with electro-optical, optical and mechanical/optical systems design is a plus.
  • Experience with Ansys preferred.
