There are two primary responsibilities for this Analysis Coordinator position: 

1. Serves as a primary intake point for samples (Glass, ceramic, glass ceramic and raw materials) coming into the directorate from R&D and various manufacturing plants - both domestic and overseas - for testing and characterization. 

Daily responsibilities include: 
- Maintaining a neat, orderly Sample Drop-off Area 
- Complying with all safety procedures when working with hazardous materials, including: 
1. Wearing appropriate PPE 
2. Following established waste disposal procedures 

- Developing a general understanding of the measurement capabilities of the labs throughout the directorate, as well as the ability to identify and contact the appropriate SMEs whenever additional info is needed. 

- Receiving and logging in samples dropped off by customers 
1. Ensuring that all relevant information is complete and accurate 
2. Addressing/noting any special concerns expressed by customer 
3. Collaborating with Shipping & Receiving and Corporate Customs to ensure the timely routing and receipt of samples coming from plants/vendors 

- Logging samples into the Characterization Sciences (CS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) via a web application 
- Copying/Printing any necessary documentation and labels 
- Affixing barcode labels to samples 
- Delivering samples to appropriate lab(s) 
- Tracking sample flow between CS labs 
- Ensuring that relevant test data is posted in LIMS in a timely manner 
- After testing is complete, receiving samples back from lab personnel and arranging for pickup by customer(s) 
- Handling any other sample-related administrative tasks that free up lab personnel to concentrate on science 
- Serving as a backup to primary Analysis Coordinator 

2. Serves as the primary purchasing agent for the entire directorate 

Daily responsibilities include: 
- Tracking incoming requests from the directorate, using an in-house created SharePoint site 
- Prioritizing all requests to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner 
- Coordinating with directorate personnel to ensure correct parts/materials are identified 
- Working closely with vendors to place orders: 
1. Online 
2. Via telephone 
3. Purchase Orders 
4. Corporate P Card 

- Detailed tracking of all orders from submission to receipt of goods/services 
- Working closely with purchasing to Create and track Purchase Orders and payments to vendors 
- Utilizing the Concur system to submit timely, detailed accurate expense reports 
- Working with lab personnel to streamline and improve efficiencies regarding frequently-purchased item

- Ability to maintain compliance with corporate, state and federal guidelines and quality standards 
- Ability to work effectively with individuals across all paygrades and organizations 
- Exceptional Interpersonal skills (people person) 
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) 

Education/Experience: 
- Must have a minimum of 2-yr degree. 
- Must have EITHER: 2 years’ experience working in a lab environment OR Completed course work in a lab science 

Technical Skills Associated with this role: 
- Computer proficiency 
1. Operating Systems: MS Windows 7, MS Windows 10 
2. Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint 
3. Web browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome 

- Basic database knowledge a plus 
1. Writing basic SQL statements to query a relational database
