Measurements Technician
Location: Keller, TX 76244
Work schedule/flex-time: 40 hours Monday to Friday with possibility of OT as required by workload

Temp to hire for the role after 90 days for the right candidate

SUMMARY
Meaningful and unique role where you will provide technical support to Measurements department by maintaining, building, developing and improving measurement processes, testing products, and recording and analyzing data during product development and manufacturing.
Focused approach to performing state of the art visual and dimensional product inspection under close tolerances utilizing deep knowledge and advanced precision measurement equipment and ensure alignment to quality and engineering standards.
Proven work ethic required to maintain, perform and improve the calibration of standard electrical/mechanical measuring and recording instruments.
Evaluates customer requirements and implements appropriate measurement protocols.
Innovative self-starter who brings new ideas with them.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Strive to verify conformance of products and/or processes using appropriate measuring instruments, including fixed and variable gauges and optical/laser/hard probe coordinate measurement systems.
Program CMMs and similar state of the art measurement systems to inspect product relative to customer requirements and/or engineering specifications.
Provide mentorship and deep knowledge in blueprint reading and interpretation of customer Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) requirements to production and management personnel.
Conduct Gage R&R studies as required to support manufacturing activities.
Use applicable work orders, drawings, or similar acceptance criteria to determine final product conformance with applicable customer requirements and company workmanship standards.
Use analytical skills to perform first article inspection of products as required.
Assist and align with company lean manufacturing and continual improvement initiatives as required.
Perform ISO/TL 9000 support activities as directed.
Set up, monitor, test, adjust and correct state of the art measurement devices and test equipment using approved industry standards of performance and reliability.
Perform calibrations on measuring and recording instruments, maintain database, and report and distribute calibration schedules and timelines.
Collaborate with external suppliers for scheduling and calibration purposes
Travel Requirements: less than 5%, mostly for training purposes

Required Education:
Associate of Applied Sciences degree required

Required Years and Area of Experience:
5 years quality/engineering systems experience in a manufacturing environment

Required Skills:
Self-starter with excellent analytical and statistical analysis skills
Deep knowledge in Mathematics, Trigonometry and Geometry
Deep knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Gage R&R process
Zeiss/Calypso CMM programming experience
Knowledge reading and interpreting blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) plans for manufacturing
Knowledge using precision measuring instruments
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; positive attitude

Desired Skills:
Experience with PCDMIS and/or Geomatic software
TL 9000 or ISO 9001 training
Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
Understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts and tools
Knowledge of injection molding and/or machining processes
ANSI drafting standards
Knowledge of inspection fixtures concept and design
