Workstation Support Technician
The Workstation support technician will need to perform various functions in providing effective support to staff when they have hardware, software or peripheral related problems such as:
- Provide support to company staff (end-users) remotely or in person concerning the installation, maintenance and usability of hardware, software, and other peripherals
- Carry out evaluation and diagnosis of staff technology issues, applying independent judgement and discretion, and provide the necessary responses and solutions
- Ensure work orders are resolved, along with documentation of problems and solutions, in a timely fashion
- Perform evaluation, purchase and deployment of hardware and software from various vendors within established hardware refresh cycles, following the direction of the on-site manager
- Configuration and deployment of the Windows 10 Operating System and settings, following the direction of the on-site manager
Requirements – Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities – for Workstation Support Technician Role
- Possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with reliable transportation to support staff in person at various locations in Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties
- Possess a High School Diploma or a Certificate of High School Equivalency
- Possess A + Certification or equivalent knowledge/experience
- Knowledge and understanding of basic networking concepts including IP Addressing, subnetting and protocols
- Knowledge of troubleshooting Dell hardware, various vendor software, Android-based cell phones, Microsoft Surface products and various computer peripherals
- Experience with deploying and troubleshooting the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system (preferably using Microsoft SCCM, but SCCM experience not required)
- Experience with configuring, testing, deploying and troubleshooting Group Policy settings and applications
- Strong ability to work without direct supervision, applying independent judgment in analyzing and resolving staff technology issues
- Ability to prioritize tasks in line with company and departmental objectives while resolving issues in a timely manner
- Strong ability to generate effective strategies and solutions to fixing technology problems while maintaining professional relationships with staff and other company partners
- Strong communication skills to effectively pass strategies, ideas, problems, and solutions to staff and co-workers in writing and verbally
