Fixed Asset Accountant - Houston , TX

Job Description:

A Staff Accountant, located in Houston, TX. The Fixed Asset Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of fixed assets management from construction in progress (CIP) to retirement of assets.

Essential Duties

·Collaboration with project managers to ensure timely closure of capital projects

·Review capital project closure notice for accuracy and completeness

·Execute asset additions, transfers and retirements

·Manage and update project and asset master data

·Manage and monitor the functional mailbox and complete requests from other team members

·Complete month-end and year-end closing responsibilities, including account reconciliation and balance sheet review

·Monthly reporting of CIP, additions, retirements, and fixed asset roll-forward

·Provide and support depreciation and amortization forecast, budget, and strategic plan

·Review and analyze changes in depreciation from prior month and forecast

·Provide quarterly and ad hoc reports to the tax, external reporting, and other functional teams

·Focal point for fixed asset verification

·Monitor compliance with the Corporate Policy and procedures

·Support audit requests

 

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)

·         Experience working in fixed assets accounting (GAAP, statutory, and tax sub-ledgers and general ledger)

·         Experience with working in multi-currency ledgers

·         Experience with internal controls both understanding common fixed asset internal controls, applying these internal controls, and monitoring compliance with the established controls

·         Proficient in SAP. SAP s4/Hana preferred

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office package – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail

·         Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

·         Demonstrate customer service competencies

·         Strong work ethic, dependable, self-motivated, and adaptability to rapid changes

·         SAP, S/4 Hana preferred, Microsoft Suite, Imaging/ORC software
