Job Title: Provisioning Technician

Duration: 12 months

Provisioning Technician is dedicated to Internet Access / VPN and IP products.
The tech is responsible for providing "one call resolution" to customer reported installations.
The tech works with customers, local carriers, transport repair organizations as well as other work groups.
Excellent customer service, a positive attitude, leadership and a strong technical aptitude are required for this position.
Respond to customer requested IP address, routing, troubleshooting and coordination for various hours of activation requests.
Perform trouble isolation for customers during the initial activation.
Perform trouble isolation for customers during the initial activation.
Engage other technical assistance teams to assist with trouble resolution and activation of circuits.
Understand BGP, EBGP, OSPF, MPLS, static routing, and have a basic understanding of LAN and WAN technology.
Works with software and hardware tools to remotely identify and diagnose WAN problems.
Resolves complex network problems involving power, network hardware, routers, CSU/DSU, carrier services.
Has ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems. Applies excellent customer service.
Understand and apply standard trouble shooting techniques.
Demonstrate proficiency with trouble ticketing application as well as other internal tools.
Ability to work off hours. Associate degree or 1+ year of related work experience. Knowledge of TCP / IP.
Knowledge of routing protocols. Knowledge of VPN principles. Experience with basic commands in Cisco, Juniper and Adtran routers.
Understanding of DNS. 1+ year of technical experience on a Adtran, Juniper or Cisco routers.
CCNA/CCNP preferred. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business. 2-4 years of experience. 4-6 years of experience 

Job Description 
Essential Duties: 
• Analyzes and develops solution for failures and outages and coordinates the repair efforts of networking 
• Performs both internal and external escalations on all hardware and software failures and all data related outages. 
• Maintains and supports IP infrastructure. Update all systems and databases with careful attention to detail. 
• Maintains a commitment to safe practices and holds others equally accountable. 
• Processes new activations, disconnects, coordinate and perform lower complexity migrations with some oversight. 
• Remains current on the latest data network technology through completion of required/recommended training and reading material. 
• Operate in multiple systems and databases as required. 

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities: 

• Ability to work flexible hours as needed 
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with customers in a professional manner. 
• Fundamental knowledge of OSI model, working knowledge of IP 
• Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) 
• Fundamental knowledge of Routing Protocols and Hardware Platforms to include BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, IP Routing, Cisco 
• Layer 2 and 3 Hardware and Software plus Cisco IOS, ATM, Frame-Relay and Juniper 
• Layer 2 and 3 Hardware and Software plus Juno OS, DNS, Radius, UNIX 
• Exposure to Network Design (LAN, WAN and ISP) and Troubleshooting 
• Fundamental knowledge of all Ethernet Topologies. 

Basic Qualifications: 
• Associates Degree, or up to 2 years of relevant job experience. 
• Relevant job experience is described as: 
o Job experience in similar industry 
o Job experience with similar essential duties Physical Requirements: 
o Office - Sits 5 to 7 hours per day; Bend, reach, stoop and crouch; lift 10 lbs.
