Application Technology Architecture Practitioner - Dearborn, MI

Job Description:

  • Drives enterprise-class design and development of Java/C++ based applications, services and prototypes/proof-of-concepts using standards and guidelines that support high volumes, are fast, simple, reliable, multi-tiered, that are easy to extend and maintain 
  • Develops the system specifications by interpreting the business, user, functional, and non-functional requirements as documented in the Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and Business features in Rally 
  • Develop design documentation and Logical design from the Conceptual model 
  • Responsible for understanding the capabilities and limitations of new systems, integration of the new and the old including limitations placed on the integration and performance of the combined and interfacing systems 
  • Enlists architects and subject matter experts to ensure the system and/or application design meets corporate and/or architecture requirements, standards and optimizes assets 
  • Requires a broad and comprehensive knowledge of technology and systems development lifecycle (Agile) 
  • Works with the Business Analyst to ensure all business and user requirements are met through design, build, and implementation phases 
  • Ensures system and/or applications adhere to IT principles such as optimizing system design for performance, maintainability and usability requirements 
  • Lead and mentor developers to deliver use cases and components 
  • Supports teams in analysis and identification of issues when the architecture does not meet requirements (e.g. performance, scalability, data design, integration testing, audit compliance, information failure mode analysis)

Skills Required:

  • 6+ years overall IT experience including: -- 4+ years of experience with Data Modeling, RDBMS, Object Relational mapping such as TopLink, Hibernate, Java Persistence API (JPA) or similar 
  • Familiarity with industry standard SDLC models (i.e., Agile, SMD, Unified/RUP)
  • Proven ability to deliver on large, complex solutions that are highly interfaced 
  • Proficient in object oriented development and Java Enterprise concepts 
  • Expert level capabilities in application design, design patterns and performance tuning 
  • Experience with SOA, Web Services and Integration patterns 
  • Experience with Iterative software development practices, agile practices 
  • Critical leadership / Collaboration skills 
  • History of successful teamwork and production deployments in high volume environments 
  • Ability and willingness to work in fast paced and dynamic environment 
  • Knowledge of core JAVA EE patterns, SOA design principles and design patterns 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in handling team internal and external and business customers 
  • Be willing to collaborate with Program Architecture leadership and contribute to the success of the Program 
  • Experience with very large Global Programs 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills 
  • Has practical experience in all systems life cycle phases

Experience Preferred:
  • Various technologies including Java, MS Access, VBA Excel macros, SQL Server and Oracle, Networking, BA skills, Systems Design 
1. Automated Testing experience 
2. Experience with Cryptography, Authentication, Authorization, Single Sign On, Message Level Security
