This is for PaaS team - Kafka , RabbitMQ messaging platform engineer role

 

DESCRIPTION :

The Senior Platform Engineer provides middleware messaging engineering, administration and system support for new and existing production RabbitMQ and Kafka  environments to include performance of the following related tasks: software installation, patch installation, upgrades, object definition, configuration, security, system monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery planning, implementation and backup and recovery.

Participate on a Cloud Platforms infrastructure team, enhance our next-gen private cloud platform - Container as a Service (Docker, Kubernetes, others), on VMWare vSphere.

Work independently on day to day monitoring and operations of cloud and legacy applications. You will be required to develop automation using scripting languages. You will also be able to handle critical operation tasks as well as on demand requests.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead efforts to guide team to best practices for RabbitMQ and Kafka usage, high availability and business continuity

• Create and support MQ objects across internal and end-user applications

• Administer MQ security across all database environments including use of SSL/TLS when appropriate

• Proven expertise in Kubernetes Container Orchestration, Docker Containers.

• Ensure that the container orchestration platform (Docker/Kubernetes) is maintained properly by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, performance and system health.

• Assist development teams to migrate applications to Docker based PaaS

• Solid knowledge of monitoring tools and fine-tuning alerts on Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic search.

• Monitor, prevent and troubleshoot security related issues.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Total 10 + years of experience in public cloud, middleware and container technologies

• 3 years demonstrated proficiency and experience in design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes & Docker Container Orchestration infrastructure.

• 5 years of Hands-on experience with messaging queues RabbitMQ, Kafka and IBM MQ

• Good Linux system administrator skills and TCP/IP network fundamentals

• monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and Elastic search

• Experience building highly-available fault-tolerant distributed systems with microservices, including containerized architectures, application security, monitoring, and storage systems.
