Software Systems Engineer - Painted Post, NY

Job Description:

One of the world’s leaders in materials science, our client has an opening for a software engineer to work onsite in Corning, NY.   While this is a 12+ month contract position it has the potential to extend to 24 months. 

 

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8a.m.-5p.m.

 

Summary: Encompasses the computer science discipline which involves technological and operating principles contained in all aspects of written computer data, such as programs or routines essential to the operation of computers, including operating systems, databases, compilers, computer networks, algorithms, and Internet-related tools. Responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging software programs. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and internet-related tools, etc. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.Requirements: Applies advanced technical application of engineering theories, concepts, principles and techniques. Leads contributions to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex and potentially broad reaching technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction towards pre-determined long range goals and objectives. Work is checked through consultation and agreement. Serves as an organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as a senior advisor to management on advanced technical research studies and applications.

 

Education: BS Minimum

Experience: 15+ Years

- C#, Visual Studio, Microsoft DotNet 4.62 programming experience for manufacturing or commercial applications

- DotNetStandard and DotNetCore 2.0

- MVC 4 or 5

- WCF or WebAPI2

- Web Services REST or SOAP

- Multi Tier Programming

- Gang of 4 design patterns

- Unit test frameworks

- Software testing (Unit, System, Integration, Functional, Performance)

- Writing parallel / multithreaded applications leveraging Microsoft TPL / windows threading

- Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation

- Profiling software application performance

- Managed Memory Architecture / .NET Garbage Collector

- Windows Service Programing

- MS SqlServer or PostgreSQL or MySql

- Html, JavaScript, jQuery

- Docker
